Missing Incisor
When a horse has a missing incisor it will in time create a problem.
As the incisors normally worn by the opposing tooth when one incisor is missing, the healthy tooth will continue to grow in to the gap of the missing tooth.
This could cause a blockage and the teeth to lock. The jaws cannot rotate properly.
This will cause the horse to chew in an up and down motion and often the horse can be seen quidding.
The solution is to keep the healthy tooth level with its adjoining teeth. If left , n some cases it will need cutting back with a diamond disk or carbide burr.
This horse will always need regular dental care.
"Had Glenn come down to do teeth on two of our cobs today, one of which had not been done before and was nervous to a degree with the process as he didn't understand. I have to say I was very pleased with Glenn's work, but even more so with how calm he was with the horses, in particular the nervous one, Glenn took his time with him, not rushing to get it done, just being calm and patient with him. Thank you, look forward to meeting you again."
