Deciduous (Baby Teeth) Retained
As the Baby Teeth are softer then the adult teeth. The retention of the baby teeth can cause discomfort and pain, some horses my refuse to eat, others may develop behavioral problems and become difficult to ride.
Therefore It is most important a young horses teeth are checked regularly to make sure they are forming correctly and the premolar caps are being shed to avoid such problems in later life.
Horses have a full set of baby teeth at about 8 month of age. These teeth begin to be replaced by adult teeth when the horse is 2 resulting in a full set of teeth by the time they are 5 years old.
This 6 year old should have lost his baby teeth, unfortunately this hasn't happened resulting in them wearing away
Glen came to do my three horses, all with different needs. Glen was fantastic with them, very patient and told me a lot about what he found and could do. He didn't rush and made sure he was happy with all of them, top service I thoroughly recommend him.
